The wife of Charles III takes a prestigious role in the army.
Charles III gave him a military title which Prince Andrew had to part with with a broken heart.

Big changes in the royal family. The arrival to the throne of Charles III, 74, has reshuffled all the cards. Now Queen Consort, Camilla Parker Bowles, 75, is granted a title dear to the fallen prince, Andrew of York, 62. On December 21, 2022, Camilla Parker Bowles was appointed Colonel of the Grenadier Guards. The Queen Consort thus succeeds the Duke of York for whom the loss of this particular title would have been the ultimate humiliation. The title of Colonel of the Grenadier Guards was particularly close to the heart of Prince Andrew of York who was stripped of his titles because of his scandals.

Because of his association with the billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, the Duke of York was forced to leave his royal duties, recalls the Daily Mail. Then, because of the case of sexual assault of which the American Virginia Giuffre accuses him, the fallen brother of Charles III loses his title of Colonel of the Grenadier Guards. As a reminder, Prince Andrew inherited this title from his late father, the beloved Prince Philip. According to the Daily Mail, it is a “role of choice” that Prince Philip performed for 42 years before retiring from public life in 2017. The British tabloid also claims that Prince Philip was loved by both soldiers and the higher ranks.

Camilla Parker Bowles: the Queen consort of England at the head of the most emblematic regiment of the British army

The appointment of Camilla Parker Bowles to this post was seen as a surprise. However, it can also be interpreted as a wise decision by Charles III, as explained by the Daily Mail. As queen consort, she is the most senior woman in the royal family. Note that the Queen Consort is not the only woman to be appointed to head a prestigious regiment as part of this reshuffling of royal military posts. Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, 40, is also given her first role in the military and not least. Prince William’s wife becomes Colonel of the Irish Guards.
