A tragic collateral victim. In Étampes, in Essonne, a baby was seriously injured on Monday February 21 during a scene of domestic violence. According to Le Parisien, the father of the child was arrested and placed in police custody. He is suspected of having struck his partner in the face and of having injured the head of the infant, who was then in the arms of his mother.

According to the newspaper, the young woman took refuge with a neighbor with her 3-month-old baby girl shortly after 11 p.m. On the spot, she explained that she was punched and kicked by her husband. When the police arrived, they found that the baby had a small wound on the head.

The alcoholic father at the time of the events

Once at the hospital, the doctors diagnosed a fractured skull and a blood effusion, requiring the emergency transfer of the child to the Necker hospital, in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, adds Le Parisien. Still hospitalized, the little girl will be the subject of follow-up care. For her part, the mother was able to leave the hospital.

Le Parisien reports that the father of the family was alcoholic at the time of the events. The latter was already known to the police for violence and drug cases in particular. This Wednesday, February 23, he was released from police custody, and the Evry-Courcouronnes prosecution requested his placement in pre-trial detention.
