A true living legend of Hollywood, Bruce Willis put an end to his glorious acting career in March 2022, due to his state of health. The star of the Die Hard franchise, who has appeared in countless blockbusters over the years, revealed that he had aphasia, a language disorder caused by brain damage, to justify his retirement from film sets. Almost a year later, Bruce Willis received a terrible diagnosis from his doctors. In fact, the comedian suffers from an unfortunately incurable form of dementia, as revealed by his family on Thursday February 16, 2023 on Instagram.
“Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in the spring of 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as TFD, editor’s note). Unfortunately, the problems of communication are just a symptom of the disease that Bruce is dealing with. Although painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis. FTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of. never heard of and can strike anyone. For people under 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and since getting a diagnosis can take years, FTD is probably much more widespread than we believe,” Rumer Willis said on his Instagram account.
Rumor Willis: ‘Bruce always believed in using your voice in the world to help others’
“Today there is no cure for the disease, a reality which we hope can change in the years to come. As Bruce’s condition progresses, we hope that the full attention of media will be able to focus on bringing this disease to light which needs much more awareness and research. Bruce has always believed in using your voice in the world to help others and raise awareness about important issues. We know in our hearts that – if he could today – he would respond by bringing global attention,” she added.
