If the battle is still long, this court decision is a small victory for Britney Spears. For thirteen years, the American singer has been under the tutelage of her father Jamie Spears since a descent into hell in 2007, during which she was notably deprived of custody of her children. If she seemed, apparently, to get used to this decision, a few months ago, she qualified “abusive” this measure which deprives her of a large part of her autonomy, revealing that in addition to not being able to dispose of her own money, she was also not allowed to dispose of her body, wearing an IUD which she is not allowed to remove, and also not having the right to marry.
Despite her moving testimony, reiterated Wednesday, July 14 in the Los Angeles court, the judge in charge of this case decided that Britney Spears would still remain under the tutelage of her father, however, granting her a little freedom: that of choosing herself his lawyer. While she was not previously authorized to do so, now the singer has chosen to surround herself well. Mathew Rosengart, known for having defended other Hollywood stars in the past, such as Sean Penn or Steven Spielberg, will now represent the artist, who still hopes to obtain the lifting of his tutelage.
What new measures has Britney Spears called for?
Immediately appointed, the lawyer was also quick to unveil his plan of attack to “release” Britney Spears from this tutelage, revealing that he had planned “as soon as possible” to file a request that Jamie Spears no longer has control over his daughter’s property. “I want an investigation against my father,” assured the star who intends to file a complaint and who spoke at the hearing on Wednesday July 14 by telephone, even mentioning a possible “protection order” against him. In tears, she begged the court to put an end to this “abusive guardianship”, denouncing in particular the “fucking cruelty” of this procedure.
