The affair had shaken the world of politics. At the end of the 1990s, Bill Clinton’s second term was marked by the Lewinsky affair. The President of the United States is then accused of having had sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky, an intern and then an employee of the White House. Around April 1996, the relationship between the President and the young woman became problematic. She is then transferred to the Pentagon, where she meets Linda Tripp, an American civil servant with whom she becomes friends. A woman who, later, will unveil all of Lewinsky’s secrets, and who, even today, continues to make revelations.
Linda Tripp, who died in April 2020 of pancreatic cancer, is the author of the posthumous book A Basket of Deplorables: What I Saw Inside the Clinton White House (Un basket de lamentables: What I saw in the White House of Clinton). She made new revelations on the Lewinsky affair, and in particular on the details of the relationship that the young woman had with Clinton. She explains in particular that when she arrived at the Pentagon, Monica Lewinsky felt herself growing wings. Feeling untouchable, she attended the private parties of the President of the United States and invited herself to the latter’s fiftieth birthday, in 1996. She later bragged to Linda Tripp of having had physical contact with him during the course. of this event.
“I grabbed his c ***** right in the middle of the crowd!”
“She told me all the sordid details about what had happened at Radio City Music Hall months earlier, telling me more than I wanted to know,” writes Tripp. “She insisted that she had positioned herself in such a way as to grab her genitals, delighted to have given a love massage to the ‘Big Him’.” You sure won’t believe it, but I grabbed her c ***** right in the middle of the crowd! “she told me in November with a sarcastic laugh that could be heard across the desks. It looked like a high school girl about to give up her virginity. to the captain of the football team, and who bragged about it to his friends, “she continues.
Particularly disturbing, this affair brought Bill Clinton to his downfall. In 1997, the President perjured himself before the Supreme Court, which encouraged Congress to initiate impeachment proceedings the following year. He finally finished his second term in January 2001, not without a few skeletons in his closet.
