Bella Hadid: her moving tribute to her late grandmother

After a long battle with cancer, Ans van den Herik, Bella Hadid’s grandmother, passed away at the age of 78 at the end of August 2019. I would just like to call you and tell you that I am love.”

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the death of her grandmother, Gigi Hadid’s little sister shared in a story posted on Instagram a first photo where she appears with the latter. In caption, the young woman simply wrote: “One year … We miss you every day Oma.” After revealing a child photo where she is in her grandmother’s arms, the model wrote: “My favorite place.” For her part, Yolanda Hadid, shared on Instagram a family snapshot during her mother’s funeral. In caption, it is heartbroken that she wrote: “The loss of my mom a year ago left a pain that no one can heal, but her love that continues to live in me, no one will be able to me steal it…”

How did Bella Hadid learn of her grandmother’s death?

If the 23-year-old model has been on the cover of Vogue many times, it was two months after the death of her grandmother that she revealed under what conditions she had heard the bad news. On Instagram, she indeed explained, sharing a photo from the magazine: “This cover is very bittersweet. I always wanted to cover the Dutch edition of Vogue in Holland to represent my family, my mother, my friends. cousins, my aunt, uncle and especially my Oma. Eventually I got this opportunity, but that day I got a phone call from my mom just when we finished our last shot. She said that Oma had passed away that afternoon. It was one of the worst phone calls and all I wished I had made it sooner because she could have seen him to tell me what she thought so. I hope she’s proud of me. I love you Oma and mom. It was a day, memorable in many ways. ”
