Haunted for life. On the night of December 4 to 5, 2016, shortly after 3 a.m., several students heard screams in their university residence. Le Parisien quotes the adjectives used, all stronger than each other. “Chilling, frightening, with terror, like in a horror movie where a woman is killed, as if someone is being murdered”. Blood-chilling descriptions which were notably made during the trial of Nicolas Zepeda which is currently being held at the Assize Court of Besançon, in order to determine the role of this young Chilean in the disappearance and possible murder of his ex-girlfriend, Narumi Kurosaki. While the missing body complicates the investigation, there’s no doubt that something dreadful did happen that infamous December night. Five years after the events, the witnesses remember only too well what they heard.

Adrien, a student in Staps, remembers “screams that went crescendo, until a last long rattle, which freezes my blood. I had the impression that someone was no longer able to produce the slightest sound” . Nabil, another student, is the only one to have gone out into the hallway to see what was going on underline our colleagues from Parisian. “In addition to those chilling screams, it also sounded like something was banging against the walls.” Why did none of the witnesses, however, call the emergency services or try to find out what was really going on? Several reasons explain this. For Adrien, it was above all about fear, although he expressed regret that he had not warned anyone. For Nabil, it was because the cries died down once he went out into the hallway that the young man decided not to call the police. Even before the fateful night, tenants of the student residence had noticed the presence of a “shady” individual.

Witnesses recognize Narumi Kurosaki’s ex-boyfriend

This person would have been seen on December 2, 2016 in the corridors, not only by Rachel, but also by Nadia. During the hearing, when the lawyer for the civil parties asked Nicolas Zepeda to remove his mask, Nadia also realized that it was indeed the man encountered in his residence. “Yes, of course, it’s him. It’s a face that I will never forget” quotes Le Parisien. Where several witnesses heard chilling screams, the main suspect seems however to have heard cries of pleasure. He explains that Narumi allegedly displayed “demonstrative manifestations” during their sexual activity on the evening of December 4-5, after the exes returned from the restaurant. An explanation that is difficult to reconcile with the sounds of pure terror described by the other witnesses…
