Jasleen Kaur (27), Jaspeed Singh (36), their baby Aroohi Dheri (8 months) and the baby’s uncle Amandeep Singh (39) went missing Monday, October 3 in Merced County, California. Indeed, the four family members were allegedly abducted in the morning while they were in the office of a trucking company they owned. Shortly after, a vehicle belonging to Amandeep Singh was reportedly found burnt down around 11.40am.
According to KABC-TV media, investigators quickly suspected a 48-year-old man named Jesus Manuel Salgado. Indeed, the latter would have been identified on a surveillance camera after having used one of the cards of a victim at the ATM of a bank located in Atwater, a town north of Merced.

Suspect reportedly confessed to kidnapping before attempting suicide
According to information from the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, the family of the prime suspect contacted authorities shortly after the abduction. She would have confided that Jesus Manuel Salgado would have confessed to them to be involved in the case. Tuesday, October 4, the man allegedly attempted suicide before being arrested by investigators. He is now in critical condition.
This is not the first time the suspect has been implicated in a case like this as he had served a prison sentence until 2015 for “charges of robbery with home invasion with a firearm, ‘intimidation of witnesses and attempted forcible confinement’ in December 2005. So far, the Merced County Sheriff has announced that the family has still not been found and that the prime suspect has destroyed evidence ‘in an attempt to ‘erasing traces’. The investigation therefore continues to try to locate the four missing persons, without knowing if they are still alive.
