A marriage proposal that falls through. This Friday, June 3, an American visiting Disneyland Paris wanted to put the dishes in the big ones by asking for the hand of his girlfriend inside the park. And to really mark the occasion, the young man wanted to put his knee on the ground in front of the castle of Sleeping Beauty.

Filmed by a friend, the man, all dressed in white, therefore bowed to his companion on the platform located at the end of the central alley of the park a few steps from the castle, before handing her a small box containing the precious ring. A scene that immediately provoked the applause of the other visitors who attended the scene, but this beautiful moment did not last long.

Indeed, while the young man was presenting the engagement ring to his future wife, an employee of the Disneyland Paris park came running, then came between the couple and recovered the box containing the jewel. He then instructed them to get off the platform and do this further away, away from potentially dangerous gear.

When the two lovebirds, visibly taken aback, came down from the stage, we can hear on the video the future groom saying to the park employee: “she said yes”, before the latter answers, “it’s great, but here it will be even better”.

Disneyland Paris regrets “the way it was handled”

These images quickly sparked a controversy on social networks. Many lamented that the moment was “spoiled”, while others pointed to the fact that the employee had “just done his job”. Although the platform is a place usually prohibited to the public, the friend who filmed the scene affirms that the young man had previously asked permission from another employee before climbing on it.

According to US media Newsweek, Disneyland Paris has apologized for the incident. “We regret the manner in which this was handled (…) We apologized to the couple concerned and offered to put things right,” said a spokesperson for the park. Disneyland Paris is however accustomed to marriage proposals. The park thus offers event offers to make your request as it should be. All you have to do is go to the park’s website, which guarantees that “there is no place more enchanting than Disneyland Paris” to celebrate this event.
