“I struggle to find the words to describe how painful, awful it is for me to sit here and go through it all again,” she began. This Wednesday, May 4, Amber Heard was called to the bar in the defamation lawsuit brought by her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, in a court in Fairfax County, Virginia. In front of an absorbed court, the 36-year-old actress told her love story with the actor, from their meeting in 2009 to their marriage in 2015, until their overhyped breakup in 2017, at the end of a tinted relationship violence, both verbal and physical.
In his speech, the star of Aquaman notably told an anecdote dating back to June 26, 2013. That day, the couple had decided to consume MDMA, a recreational drug, on board a plane when Johnny Depp allegedly gave in to violence with an air hostess. “It was the first and last time I thought it was a good idea to take drugs with Johnny, said the actress. We took MDMA on the plane, which was very stupid. I took a capsule, Johnny took several, I didn’t count. Everything was fine until the stewardess interfered. She arrived, (.. .) Johnny convinced her and she took MDMA with us (…) She became very tactile with me, she sat on the armrest of my seat, she was on substances, what. Johnny took her hand and told her not to touch me. She tried to defend herself, to clarify the situation, and he grabbed her by the wrist, slammed her against the table and told her that “He could break her wrist. I remember thinking to myself, ‘I’ve heard that before’ This kind of thing happened, it was in cycles. (…) She started crying, is excused, he let go of her and she left.”
“I tried to stand, literally”
Subsequently, things would have soured between the star of Pirates of the Caribbean and his girlfriend: “I do not remember any violence between Johnny and me on the plane, but I do remember a tension, because that I wondered when it was going to backfire on me. He was sensitive when it came to women and me, because I had had a girlfriend in the past, Amber Heard said. I was nervous, anxious , and I remember that we didn’t say anything until the hotel. When we got to the room, he immediately accused me of having caused what had happened. I denied, I reminded him of the obvious, that he had been given drugs. I tried to defend myself and after a while, Johnny pushed me. Violently. I fell on a glass table. ( … I tried to defend myself, to stand up, literally.” Subsequently, Jonny Depp allegedly punched his wife in the face, causing her nose to bleed. A moving testimony, which will continue this Thursday, May 5, on the 15th day of the trial.
