Alcoholism, junk-food: Ed Sheeran makes rare confidences about his addictions

In the space of a few years, Ed Sheeran has become one of Britain’s most popular artists! If the 29-year-old singer sells millions of albums across the world and regularly gives sold-out concerts, he would be suffering from nervousness. While 2014 was a very busy year for him, with more than 180 concerts given around the world, Ed Sheeran would have taken refuge in alcohol and junk food. In an interview with The Sun, the British star agreed to confide in his long fight against his addictions: “I have a personality very prone to addictions.” Over the past few months he has realized he’s having the same struggles as Elton John: “I’m reading Elton John’s book right now, and there are a lot of things he’s done that I’m doing. : ‘I’m going to stuff myself with ice cream and four more desserts in a row until I throw up.’ And I was like, ‘I did that too.’ ”

Regarding his alcohol consumption, the artist sadly makes the same observation: “I think things like sugar, sweet things, junk food, cocaine and alcohol are good, but it’s worst thing for you. I think with addictions it’s hard to moderate, but moderation is key. I’m covered in tattoos and I don’t do things by halves. So if I’m going to drink, I don’t see the point in having only one glass of wine. I prefer to have two bottles. Drinking a glass of wine is something moderate and it won’t affect your day the next day. But two bottles of wine, will probably make you sad. ”

During this long interview, the British artist also revealed that he suffered from a panic attack during his last tour: “It’s a very weird experience to live on a tour, because your life is on hold. Nothing happens. . Everything continues to revolve around you. So you come home and life has moved forward three years. ” Seeing his friends again also made Ed Sheeran drink more than he should: “Every day is a party, because every day there’s a new person you see in town, whom you haven’t seen in a while. When I go to Manchester, I see my friend Sophie. And when I am in Glasgow, I see my friend Graham. So every day you drink and it becomes normal (…) I slept on the bus all day, I woke up to doing the concert, I was drinking and going back on the bus. I haven’t seen the light of day for maybe four months. At first it’s funny, but then it gets sad. ”

Cherry Seaborn, unwavering support for the artist

Today Ed Sheeran is doing better. Particularly thanks to the support of his wife, Cherry Seaborn, who helps him overcome his addictions and calm him down by giving him good habits, one day after another: “She eats rather healthily. So I started. to do like her. She doesn’t drink that much. So I stopped drinking. ” In addition to motivating him to go for a run every morning, his wife also manages to calm him down when he feels ‘paranoid’ in certain public places: “Once, we were in a restaurant in Venice. I told him that I wanted to get the hell out of here. She replied that no one was looking at me or wanted to bother me. That there were only old people there drinking their coffee. And after five minutes, everything was fine. become calm again. ”
