These are five charges against Alberto Del Rio. Last May, the former wrestling star was arrested from her San Antonio, Texas home after being charged with sexual assault and kidnapping by his ex-girlfriend. Suspecting that she had cheated on her, the sportsman violently attacked her during an argument where he broke his phone and his laptop and tried to burn his passport, reports TMZ.
During this violent argument, the ex-girlfriend of Alberto Del Rio also claims that he struck her several times in the head, even leaving her “dizzy”, before attempting to strangle her after having her put a sock in her mouth “to keep it quiet,” she explained in her complaint. She also claims that the 43-year-old wrestling champion sexually assaulted her, categorically claiming that she “did not consent to sexual activity” with Alberto Del Rio.
Alberto Del Rio faces up to 99 years in prison
While four counts of sexual assault hang over him, a fifth hang over the MMA fighter for aggravated kidnapping, which could cost him a heavy sentence. Indeed, if the crimes of sexual assault carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, the attempted strangulation and kidnapping can go up to a sentence of 99 years. The officer who took the complaint of the wrestler’s ex-girlfriend last May, claims to have noted “multiple bruises” on the young woman’s face, as well as on her arms, legs and neck.
