It is a tragic story that took place on October 1, 2012, in Machynlleth, Wales. That day, April Jones, a five-year-old child disappeared while she was playing outside. Very quickly, a witness reported that he had seen him boarding a vehicle in his housing estate. The police quickly launched a massive search to try to find her, Prime Minister David Cameron having himself launched an appeal to the public.

If the body of the little girl has never been found, a man named Mark Bridger was arrested the day after her disappearance. Aged 46, he had been tried for murder after the discovery of fragments of human bones in his chimney, compatible with “a younger individual” and blood corresponding to the DNA of April Jones. The police had concluded that the young Welsh girl would have suffered injuries which she could not have survived.

While the main suspect was found guilty of kidnapping and murder and labeled a paedophile, he was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Ten years after the facts, his relatives spoke in a documentary for Channel 4. His mother Coral thus revealed the probable tragic conditions of the death of her daughter. “He mistreated her” she revealed before continuing: “They found her DNA in her pants. Then we thought he cut her into pieces and burned her, after all that ‘he did to her’.

For her part, her big sister Jazz revealed that Mark Bridger had images of her and April on his computer, in addition to many pornographic images. She also explained that the man had tried to add her on Facebook, a year before her sister died. After the tragedy, the family was completely broken up and Jazz and his little brother had to grow up without being able to count on their mother, who quickly plunged into a long depression.
