Meghan Markle couldn’t stay silent. A few days ago, the Supreme Court of the United States revoked the right to abortion, thus making voluntary termination of pregnancy illegal in several American states. In an interview with Vogue magazine, this Tuesday, June 28, Prince Harry’s wife reacted to this decision that she does not understand.
“What does this say to women? Asks Meghan Markle. It tells us that our physical safety doesn’t matter, and therefore we don’t matter. But we do. women matter. And that’s one of the reasons why I called Gloria [Vogue journalist Steinheim, editor’s note] immediately. Because in all of this, she reminds me that when you get angry, you have to channel that energy into something that makes a difference. That’s activism.”
Meghan Markle: ‘Harry’s reaction was visceral, like mine’
Meghan Markle continued by referring more particularly to her personal situation, she who is the mother of two children, Archie and Lilibet. “I think about how lucky I felt to be able to have my two children. I know what it’s like to have a connection to what’s growing inside your body. I know what a miscarriage feels like, which I have spoken about publicly. The more we normalize the conversation about things that affect our lives and our bodies, the more people will understand how necessary it is to have protections in place”, estimates in the columns of Vogue that who decided to leave the British royal family after his marriage. Meghan Markle also spoke about Prince Harry’s state of mind in the face of this historic Supreme Court decision to revoke the right to abortion: “He is also a feminist. And his reaction last week was visceral, like mine”.
