A real tragedy! At a wedding in Turkey, a guest, a 14-year-old British boy, died of drowning on Sunday August 14th. This sad story took place at the Liberty Lara beach hotel in Turkey. According to The Sun, the teenager got into trouble while swimming with his aunt in the hotel pool. A bartender rushed to save the boy, according to an eyewitness. Unconscious, the boy would have received cardiac massage before being taken to hospital.
“It happened around 1 p.m. and we learned that the lifeguard had left for lunch. They tried to revive the boy on the edge of the pool but it was too late,” the holidaymaker told the media. “It’s so sad, especially when you know they were there for such a happy reason,” according to the insider. The boy and his family were in this 311-room hotel to attend a wedding, points out The Sun. Unfortunately, it was not a happy time for this family.
The hotel has taken its share of responsibility
After the incident, a hotel spokesperson issued a statement to The Sun. “At this time, our prayers and thoughts are with the family and loved ones currently residing at our hotel,” the spokesperson said. “The sad and tragic loss of a young life is both devastating and heartbreaking for the family, close relatives and loved ones. Out of respect for the family, we wish to refrain from commenting on the incident until after that we receive the results of the autopsy,” he added.
CCTV cameras around the pool were viewed by hotel management and police. Videos show that a lifeguard arrived on the scene in less than 30 seconds, according to the outlet. Note that the 5-star Liberty Lara hotel has 5 swimming pools, one of which has a slide.
